Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum

Visit us at The Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum that stands in tribute to three legendary automobiles – the sporty Auburn, the innovative Cord and the magnificent and mighty Duesenberg – and the genius minds who created them. The museum is a not-for-profit organization whose primary mission is the preservation and interpretation of the Auburn Automobile Company’s history, cultural impact and legacy.
Plan a special event, business meeting or holiday gathering at our Banquet and Conference Center that provides a dream setting for weddings, anniversaries, seminars, trade shows and other occasions where distinctiveness matters.

The museum building at 1600 South Wayne Street in Auburn, a small town 20 miles north of Fort Wayne, was once the administrative headquarters for the dynamic Auburn Automobile Company, a small car manufacturer headed by industrialist E.L. Cord. The beautiful art deco building opened in 1930 and reflected Cord’s forward-thinking style. Graced with Italian chandeliers, terrazzo floor, ornate ceiling borders and a grand staircase in its showroom, the building was the last one constructed in the company’s complex.

The "heart" of the museum's permanent exhibition is the gallery of Auburn, Cord and Duesenberg motorcars of the classic era, as displayed in the original 1930 sales showroom of the Auburn Automobile Company. These magnificent automobiles, positioned in a momentous historical context, render the museum a significance that is absolute and irrefutable. The classic cars -- rich in history, technological innovation, unduplicated luxury, and esthetic beauty -- define the stature of the Auburn Automobile Company with clarity and excitement,
The museum opened in 1974 and today displays 120 classic, vintage, antique and special interest cars in eight galleries. In addition, visitors will see E.L. Cord’s restored office, restored advertising offices, and the office and clay model studio where designers Alan Leamy and Gordon Buehrig created some of the most beautiful cars ever made.

The classic cars -- rich in history, technological innovation, unduplicated luxury, and esthetic beauty -- define the stature of the Auburn Automobile Company with clarity and excitement. The museum is accredited by the American Association of Museums, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2005. The museum is open daily from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. except the three major holidays.
