O'Brien Estate

A dream begins with heart and conviction. The owners of O’Brien Estates, Barb and Bart O’Brien had both. Bart and Barb purchased Costello Vineyard in Napa Valley to make Barb's "dream of owning land in Napa Valley" come true. They have transformed the 40 acre site into a family business producing exquisite, award winning wines. Napa Valley is now their home. They live on the estate with their two children, Emily (19) who is off to Western Washington University, their son Mason (16) who is attending Justin Sienna High School, and their dog Sasha (9) who models for the Wine Dogs of Napa Valley book.

Making wine the way Barb and Bart do with 3 year air-dried French oak barrels from small artisanal coopers is higher in cost than other methods. By producing a smaller amount of wine, they are able to focus on selling their wine directly to consumers who appreciate the effort put inside the bottle, at attractive price points, which are significantly lower than similarly scoring wines.

Their 2008 vintage, which we just completed, will only be about 3,000 cases. This is far less than planned due to a year of frost and uneven "set" (where the grapes fertilize themselves in the spring).

They will be releasing their 2008 vintage in the fall of 2011. It's their expectation that the wine will be sold largely through the Inner Circle Mailing List, Wine Lovers Club, and selected restaurants in a limited number of markets in the United States.

The Wine Lovers Club allows their handmade wines to be delivered to your door, reminding you of the beauty of Napa and the romance of wine. The two club levels, Date and Steady, ship four times per year. The Date Club has 3 bottles per shipment at a 10% discount and the Steady Club 6 bottles per shipment at a 20% discount.
